1. What this service does

ColdStorageScore is an educational questionnaire about Bitcoin cold storage and related self‑custody practices. The test runs in your browser. We do not connect to the blockchain, request your wallet, or ask for your seed phrase or private keys.

2. Data we do not collect

• No seed phrases or private keys — We never ask for these.
• No wallet connection, addresses, UTXOs, or balances — We don't connect to the blockchain.
• No usernames or personal identifiers — The test is completely anonymous.
• No IP address tracking — We don't collect or store your IP address. Google Analytics may collect general location data (city/region level, not exact address), but we don't have access to your precise location.
• No login accounts or passwords — There is no user account system.
• No test answers stored — Answers stay in your browser and are never saved to our servers (unless you purchase a Pro Report, in which case they're temporarily cached for report generation only).

3. Test answers and scoring data

By default, your answers are processed locally in your browser to calculate your score and recommendations. For the free version of the test, we do not permanently store your answers in a database.

If you choose to purchase a Pro Security Report, we temporarily process your questionnaire answers and score on our serverless infrastructure in order to generate your PDF report and deliver it to you:

• The answers, category breakdown, score, and report tier are stored in an in‑memory cache linked to your order ID.
• This cache is intended only to bridge the time between your purchase and report generation and is automatically cleared after a short period (currently up to 24 hours).
• We do not maintain a long‑term database of individual test answers for profiling users.
• You will be able to choose whether to download your Pro Security Report directly from the site without providing an email address, or to have it sent to you by email. If you choose the email option, we will use the address you provide solely to deliver your report and related transactional messages.

4. Email addresses

We may collect your email address in two situations:

• Newsletter or updates: if you enter your email to receive occasional educational content about self‑custody.
• Pro Security Report delivery: if you purchase a paid report and provide an email for us to send your PDF.

Newsletter delivery and certain transactional emails may be handled by third‑party providers (such as Beehiiv, Substack, or Resend). These services store emails on our behalf so that we can send you messages. We do not sell your email address to third parties.

5. Payments, affiliate links, and third‑party processors

Payments for the Pro Security Report are handled by external payment processors (such as Lemon Squeezy, NOWPayments, or similar services). We do not process or store your full payment card details on our own servers.

These providers may share with us limited information about your transaction (for example, order ID, payment status, and, where applicable, an email address) so that we can match your order to your report. Their use of your data is governed by their own privacy policies, which you should review separately.

From time to time, we may include links or recommendations to third‑party products and services related to self‑custody (such as hardware wallets, backup devices, or digital educational products). Some of these links may be affiliate or referral links, which means we may receive a small commission if you choose to purchase through them. Clicking those links will take you to external sites that have their own privacy policies and data practices.

6. Logs, security, and hosting

ColdStorageScore is hosted on modern static hosting and serverless platforms (such as Netlify or Vercel). These platforms may automatically collect technical logs, such as IP addresses, user‑agent strings, and error messages, to keep the service secure and reliable.

We use such information only for debugging, abuse prevention, and high‑level usage statistics. We do not use technical logs to build marketing profiles of individual users.

7. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. Google Analytics collects general usage data such as:

• Page views and navigation patterns
• General geographic location (city/region level, not your exact address)
• Device type and browser information
• Time spent on pages

Important: Google Analytics does not provide us with your exact IP address or precise location. We cannot identify individual users from this data. Google Analytics data is used only to improve our website and understand overall usage patterns.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

8. Your choices and rights

You can choose not to provide an email address and still use the free version of the test. If you subscribed to a newsletter and wish to stop receiving emails, you can use the unsubscribe link in any message or contact us to be removed.

Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights over your personal data (such as the right to access, correct, or delete it). We will make reasonable efforts to honor such requests where they apply.
